Portfolio DistributionSutton Acres (Sutton, Federal Highway Canberra, NSW) – Goolabri Developments
N J Construction successfully tendered the first stage of the construction of high and low voltage power reticulation to Sutton Acres Rural Estate. The estate was to be a high quality semi rural development in NSW bordering Canberra. The estate provides country living with city benefits and a country club atmosphere with all the trimmings, including golf course. Upon successful completion of the first stage, customer satisfaction enabled N J Construction to negotiate stage two and then consequently go on to complete all remaining stages in the development. The development included extending high voltage aerial distribution over the Hume Highway and throughout the estate. N J Construction erected a variety of transformers to supply the lots and underground low voltage XLPE cables and aerial low voltage ABC conductor. Little Burra Rural Estate (Burra, NSW) – Canberra Investment Corporation
N J Construction successfully tendered for the installation of high and low voltage electrical distribution mains to Little Burra rural estate. The project is located in Burra, NSW near the Canberra/ NSW border. N J Construction extended the existing distribution network and installed several kilometers of high voltage underground cable to padmount kiosk transformers. The low voltage reticulation was extended from the transformers via several kilometers of low voltage 4 core XLPE cable to service pillars located at the boundaries of each lot. N J Construction had the responsibility of managing the shared trench to ensure all services to the estate were delivered. Barton Highway Duplication (Canberra) – Federal Highway Joint Venture
N J Construction successfully tendered the installation of streetlights for the Barton Highway duplication. Located in Canberra, the highway is being duplicated and upgraded to accommodate the growing number of commuters. N J Construction’s involvement in the project includes installation of 200 single and dual outreach lighting poles with 250W SON luminaries. The project also includes the removal and relocation of existing streetlights and cabling. The work environment is that of a live motorway where strict site rules are adhered to ensure a safe work site. As the work site is densely populated with contractors, N J Construction are required to mobilize at set times and complete our portion of the works within tight timeframes. Mount Cowangerong Weather Radar (Queanbeyan, NSW) – Bureau of Meteorology
GHD on behalf of the Bureau of Meteorology contracted N J Construction for the challenging task of bringing underground electricity to their new weather radar station. The site location, Mount Cowangerong was chosen due to the significant elevation providing the desired environment for the radar station that incorporates a 22 metre tower with radar dome atop. Challenges to be overcame by N J Construction included getting the cable to the site through 3000 Metres of solid rock. As the 22kV high voltage cable was to be direct buried at 1 Metre depth, significant rock excavation equipment was required to meet the challenge. N J Construction purchased a heavy hydraulic trencher equipped with 100% rock chain to begin the arduous task, and although significant headway was gained neatness gave way to strength as tried and true methods were adopted with the use of heavy excavators, rock breakers and rippers. The route passes through the Tallaganda National Park, and as such protection of flora and fauna was a paramount objective during the completion of the project. A site induction attended by members of, National Parks, State Forests and local indigenous interests was held to identify all areas of sensitivity and to ensure objectives of all concerned were upheld. Of specific interest were areas identified as Aboriginal places of activity, where fragments of quartz were indications of the area being used to shape implements. These areas were cordoned and signs erected to prevent disturbance. N J Construction successfully completed the project with minimal disturbance to the surrounding forest and desired outcomes attained. Woody Head Reserve (Iluka NSW) – National Parks and Wildlife Service
N J Construction have most recently been awarded the contract by National Parks and Wildlife Service for the installation of 11kV underground power to the Woody Head Reserve, Iluka. The project involves installation of 3.5Km of high voltage underground cables including jointing and the installation of a padmount transformer. The route enters the National Park and thus the construction activities will be under significant scrutiny. This $400 000 project is due for completion in September. |
